Jason Knight is a Brand Strategist and Communication Expert. He’s the Founder of AskJasonKnight, a brand consultancy built on one mission, to make your genius impossible to ignore.

My back story.

I’ve always been a big thinker.

Back in my 20’s, I designed a world-first washing, drying, ironing machine as a university student. Overnight, the home phone (yep, dial-up days) lit up with calls from global white-good manufacturers, detergent companies and even China offering me jobs. I was featured on TV, radio and the papers. And for a 20 year old kid, I was famous for a day!

I got a job with Electrolux and we made a prototype. I was an Industrial Designer - fresh out of University and leading a team of engineers.

The logical next step? Millionaire and endless job offers, right?

Wrong.

The contract ended.

I came second place in every interview.

I worked for free. I ate humble pie for 9 brutal months.
But I learnt that Attention is overrated - there are lots of one-hit-wonders.

That’s when I pivoted into corporate training. Where I designed leadership, coaching and training materials for Australia’s biggest businesses.

This turned into my first business ‘Moved’ where I learnt:

  • To design for stages + learning! By uncomplicating big ideas down to models + frameworks, so they stick! Snack before main meals!

I cracked a code that most designers never learn:

  • Audiences don’t connect with ‘polished pictures’.

  • They connect with ‘idea’s built live in-front of them’.

These discoveries lit the fuse and became the foundations of what I am today.

Today.
